The 1st and 3rd meetings of most months are the regularly scheduled club meetings of the Santee-Lakeside Rotary Club. Fellowship and lunch begin at 11:45am and our meeting will start at noon. With some exception, we have a different speaker scheduled each meeting. A few meetings each year, we may meet at a different location. Our calendar and speaker information will indicate this, please check in advance. Guests and prospective Rotary members are welcome and encouraged to attend. RSVPs to the club president are encouraged, but not required. Bring your own lunch at 11:45am. Each meeting, we select a different location from where members may order lunch and it is brought to the meeting on their behalf. Guests may be included in the lunch pickup, with an RSVP so that we may send you a menu/pricing.

Twice a year, in place of our regular club meeting, we have a social at a club member's home. It is open to Rotarians and guests, and club prospective members.
Cost: $30 per person cash or Zelle, $31.25 credit card
- includes dinner, drinks and dessert (and great company)

Here are general instructions for your reference: · Arrive at the Santee Food Bank (9715 Halberns Blvd, Santee, CA 92071) between 10:00 am and 10:15 am. · Let them know you are doing the Rotary route. · They will give you the address of the Mobile Home Park and a list of the units to deliver to. · Let the team managing the bags know how many homes you need food for and they will load them in your car. · Drive over and deliver food. · If the person doesn’t answer the door, just drop the food at their requested location. · Also, if requested, text the contact at the mobile home park to let them know what units didn’t answer their door so she can make sure they get their food. · It should take no more than 30 minutes to finish your route. · Please take a few pictures and post them on Facebook.
This is a one person job done once a month on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Sign up with Kendra for now. |

Following the in-court observation and presentation, Rotarian Kathleen Walford will take us on a guided historical walking tour of the Federal Judicial Center which encompasses three buildings on the downtown campus. Because we will be observing an actual criminal calendar, we will need to gather down-town at the corner of Front St and Broadway by 8:30 a.m. to get through the screening process. Because most people don’t like to drive downtown ,and parking is always a challenge, we will travel by trolley from the El Cajon Station located at 325 South Marshal St, on the ORANGE LINE leaving at 7:33 a.m |

Looking for Schools where we can celebrate Dr. Seuss by reading in the classroom. Locations TBD. Dates: TBD Interactive read-alouds encourage children’s engagement with stories, fostering listening comprehension, vocabulary development, and conversational skills. Teachers can use repetitive texts, discussions before and after reading, and books without text to stimulate predictions and connections, making story time a rich opportunity for language practice.
Encouraging Engagement Through Interactive Read-Alouds: Teachers can enhance oral language development by involving children in discussions before, during, and after reading stories, allowing them to share thoughts and make connections. Expanding Vocabulary with Contextual Learning: Reading aloud introduces new vocabulary, such as “tusks,” while encouraging children to guess meanings based on context and visuals. Supporting Predictive and Analytical Skills: Books without text, like “Rosie’s Walk,” encourage children to predict story outcomes using pictures, fostering critical thinking and conversation. |

Our club is being offered a unique invitation to visit the federal court in San Diego, observe criminal court proceedings and then discuss the process with United States District Judge Janis Sammartino. Judge Sammartino has served on the federal bench since 2007, prior to which she was a San Diego Superior Court Judge. Judge Sammartino chairs the Community Outreach Committee for CASD and has also served in this same role for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
